Here you will submit your topic proposal for your Informative Presentation. The proposal has two parts: a  description and a  rationale. Your proposal should be about  two to three full paragraphs in length as follows:

Part 1: Description

· With the first part of your description, offer basic presentation information:

· state your chosen informative speech topic in a few words

· identify the speech type (process or expository? what makes you say this?)

· Then, briefly describe what your speech will be about — narrow in on what you hope to cover, then summarize this in 3-4 sentences so that an audience can understand the basic elements. Think of this as important background info and context. To do so, answer the following prompts:

· What  basic information does your audience need to know to make sense of your project? Think  who/what/where/when/why.

· What do you think your  focus will be? What is your  purpose/goal? What do you hope your audience will get out of it?

· How will you accomplish it? When you envision giving the speech, what do you see yourself saying, doing, focusing on? Main ideas? Props? Will you demonstrate something? Right now, brainstorm a plan of action.

Part 2: Rationale

· Provide  a  rationale for your topic choice by answering the following questions:

· Why is your subject important for you to share and important for your audience to learn more about? In other words,  why is it significant?

· Why did you choose this subject? What  personal experiences or life events led you to pursue this topic?

Finally, don’t forget to submit your proposal in MLA format!

Informative Speech: Assignment Guidelines Informative speeches have many different styles and applications. The main purpose of an informative speech is to share knowledge with an audience. To do so successfully, the speaker must have a strong command of the material, consider the audience’s interests and frames of reference, and make the information relevant to them. In your informative speech, you will demonstrate your knowledge, expertise, and personal interest on a topic of your choice. Your goal is to instruct, inform, and engage the audience.

Our text discusses  Process and  Expository Speeches. The goal of a process speech is to demonstrate how something is done, is made, or works. The goal of an expository speech is to provide carefully researched, in-depth knowledge about a complex topic. You can choose to do either of these styles.  You will upload your video presentation here.  PLEASE ONLY UPLOAD YOUR VIDEO FILE TO THIS SUBMISSION LINK!  You will upload the outline for your presentation in a separate assignment link.

This is a formal researched speech assignment. A grade is derived from your ability to follow the instructions and to fulfill the requirements listed below.

· You should consider the following when  choosing a subject :

· it is something worthwhile to you, or with which you have experience

· it should be of some value to your audience

· it should enhance their knowledge and understanding

· it can be narrowed and researched to fit the time limits of the assignment

· Prepare and deliver a  6-8 minute  presentation. Use the allotted time efficiently and effectively. To assist you with this, three (3) 3×5 note cards (or digital equivalent) are allowed for this speech.

· A minimum of  two (2) different credible sources  must be used for this speech. Please use the DCC Library catalog and databases only. We will review this in Canvas.

· You must use at least one visual aid . This can be an object, an image, or even your own body for demonstration. You can also use a video (no longer than 45 seconds) or a power point presentation (key word and image only). Make sure the visual aid helps you explain your topic rather than distracting you or your audience from it.

· You will be graded on the  verbal  (vocabulary and structure that best suits your purpose and audience)  and nonverbal aspects (confidence demonstrated through composure/posture, eye contact, and proper gesturing) of your presentation.

· Your presentation must be well  prepared, rehearsed, and professional . You must deliver your speech dynamically. In other words, you may use notes, but do not read your speech verbatim.

Informative Speech Presentation Outline

To help you create your informative presentation, you will  complete an outline  Download complete an outline (about 2-3 pages in length) of your verbal content — your speech script, or what you plan on saying during your informative presentation.

The Written Component: (10 pts)

· To prepare for your presentation,  a written component is due using  the outline template Download the outline template  provided.

· You must present the body of your speech so that it is  easy to follow . Your delivery must help the audience learn and remember your material. Therefore,  use the outline  and organize a clear purpose, introduction, body and conclusion. Also, use transitions to link and summarize your main points. Although you do not have to deliver the written content of the outline word-for-word in your video presentation,  please write in full sentences in your outline to help you articulate clear ideas and organization.

· Lastly, fully develop each key point with well-researched supporting material. A minimum of  two (2) different credible sources  must be used for this speech. Please use the DCC Library catalog and databases only.

· You must submit a  typed, final draft of your outline  by the due date. Please include a bibliography on a separate page using correct MLA style. Instructions and examples of the outline are below.

· Presentation Info : Give the title of the presentation, name the author, give the date and the location of the presentation, if offered. State whether your choice is a process or expository speech.
