UNIV-510 Personal Reflection Essay

The purpose of this paper is to allow you to reflect on the ethical integration of faith and professional Social Work practice. You will demonstrate critical thinking and self-awareness through sharing your own motivations and values and review the “Statement on the Integration of Faith and Work.” For this assignment you will write a reflection essay of 350-500 words. You may use first-person academic writing.

NOTE: Use a minimum of two resources for this essay: “Statement on the Integration of Faith and Work” and at least one other source from the GCU library. Remember, it is a requirement to cite (in proper APA format) the “Statement on the Integration of Faith and Work,” the “NASW Code of Ethics,” religious texts, or any other resources that you use in your essay.

Read the “Statement on the Integration of Faith and Work.” Now that you know how important the integration of faith into various kinds of work is to the university, reflect on how your personal beliefs, whether religious, spiritual, or otherwise, align with the approach taken to integrate faith and learning at GCU or not.

In your essay, address the following:

• Personal Reflection: Describe your personal beliefs and values and how they influence your perspective on social work practice.
• Integration with Learning: Explain whether your beliefs align with the principles of integrating faith and learning in a professional or academic context as demonstrated in the “Statement on the Integration of Faith and Work.”
• Professional Application: Discuss how understanding the integration of the “Statement on the Integration of Faith and Work” may inform your ethical decision-making, client interactions, and professional development as a social worker.
